Would you love to feel amazing at the end of each day? Full of satisfaction, knowing that you knocked it out of the park?

Can you imagine what this would do for your momentum and your ability to show up and SLAY every day in your life and your business?

You would be ON FIRE!!

But that’s not the case for most people. Most people sabotage their momentum by not keeping their word to themselves.

Here’s how the momentum-killing, downward spiral actually works (see if it’s familiar)…

First, we set conscious or vaguely conscious commitments to ourselves and others. All good, except we’re generally not clear about when or what or how it’s going to happen.

Because we haven’t gotten clear about it, we get distracted, tired, or pulled in a different direction by someone else’s needs or some kind of fire drill that appears more important.

When we realize we haven’t kept our commitment to ourselves, there arises a slight feeling (sometimes more) of disappointment… then guilt… then wrongness… then failure… even when we’ve done a trillion other things in our day.

Your downward spiral might have a slightly different nuance to it, but it probably looks pretty similar. Recognize what happens for you when you say you’ll do something… or you have a strong desire to do something… but you don’t actually do it.

  • What happens to your mood, energy, and self-esteem?
  • What happens to your ability to feel good at the end of the day?
  • What happens to your relationships (personally or professionally)?
  • What happens to your sense of Self, who you believe yourself to be?
  • What happens to your self-talk, the stories you tell about yourself?

Do this over and over again AND THIS KILLS YOUR MOMENTUM.

Now take this deeper and ask yourself…

What are the unconscious or vaguely conscious commitments you’re actually making?

What are the first ones that come to mind? It could be a desire to work out every day, to do your morning routine, to make sales calls, to start that project, to get your marketing off the ground, etc. It could be any number of things in your day-to-day life and business.

Continue to note them throughout the day.

You’ll be surprised how many shapes and sizes they come in. You’ll also be surprised if you track this, how often you set yourself up for failure!

If you say you want to do something, be clear with yourself.

The only way to do that is to take your calendar out and schedule it. Decide specifically what you’re doing and when it’s getting done.

If you work your calendar in a PROACTIVE way, you’ll see exactly what choices you need to make to stay in integrity with yourself.

Make these choices.

Live in integrity.

Feel the flow. :-)

There’s a lot going on right now.

I’m traveling a lot and I’m juggling a lot more! There’s a TON happening in my business right now that I’m so excited about. Like most women in business, there’s a ton to do… there are marketing campaigns to work on, team to manage and meet with, client support to handle, research and learning, implementing new systems and processes, sales conversations, etc.

It’s a bit of a juggling act, am I right?!

Sometimes it can get overwhelming and you go into a headspace of, “oh my gosh, I have so much to do, how will I get it all done? I’m overwhelmed!”

Now, I have to say that I had a little bit of that the other day. Not a whole lot, but I could feel it kind of edging up. I thought, “Okay. Well, how do we handle this? Do we abdicate? Do we freak out?” No, of course not. Right? What good would that do?

I want to give you two ways to work through this, because spinning out about having too much to do is an energy leak. It’s actually taking more energy than just getting things done.

First, action solves a lot. I’m not talking about spin-out action, but the “I’m going to sit down right now and bang some things out” action. One of the best ways to get into action is to do the easy things first.

Get some momentum. Respond to five emails in your inbox. Make that one call. Button up that one small project. That’s one way to get into momentum.

Second, do the thing you’re resisting first. This is a completely different strategy and you have to use discernment to know which one you need… but if there’s something you’re resisting doing right now, it’s sapping you of your energy and making you overwhelmed and uncomfortable. Go do it now.

So do what you need to do today. Bang it out.

Don’t overdo it, but don’t resist doing it. Take that action. Get into momentum. #BeUnstoppable
