One of the principles I’ve learned while manifesting a really magnificent business and life is that Desire is Causative.

It’s the cause or driver, the motivation for creating everything, including a truly expansive, extraordinary life.

This is the life that we know we were made for but (perhaps) haven’t yet lived to our fullest potential.

One thing that blocks people from their greatness and living extraordinary is not understanding what a TRUE desire is.

This was true for me at one point in my life.

I had to decondition myself and teach myself what a true desire really was.

I had to overcome all the conditioning that had me suppressing what I wanted in favor of pleasing others.

I found that I was putting my desires on hold in favor of other people’s needs, even if they didn’t actually express them.

I was so conditioned to fear letting other people down, that no one had to tell me to put them first anymore… it just became the voice in my head, driving me.

I lovingly call that voice “The Task Master.” (Do you have one too?)

Although I have great admiration for my will and work ethic, her shadow side is a suppression of my true wants and desires.

Sometimes to the point of ridiculousness… for example…

I remember one day when I was working on something for a client and REALLY had to go to the bathroom, but kept putting it off until I finished what I was working on.

Then it became just one more thing I had to do, then another and another.

Everything else, for everyone else, was urgent.

My own desires… even such a simple bodily desire as wanting to go to the bathroom took second place.

Now discipline is one thing, but I woke up at that moment realizing that this was the epitome of how I kept putting off my true desires for something else.

So much so that I didn’t even know what I truly wanted.

#FacePalm!!!

This was the path to being a good little worker bee but not the way to extraordinary success.

I had to recondition myself so I could actually tap into what I wanted.

This started with asking myself simple questions, Did I really want a glass of lemonade or a nap? Did I have a response for this initiative in my business or was it just what that “marketing guru” said was hot at the moment?

It started small, with a step-by-step deconditioning of jumping to meet other people’s needs (read: the demands of your business, your clients, your Team, your family, and yes, even your dog) in order to know what I truly wanted and follow that.

I had to tune into these small desires to really start to claim the bigger ones.

The result?

I was willing and able to claim a goal of making $1 million dollars in a year.

This was way beyond any desire I had previously held. But it was a TRUE DESIRE.

And I knew it to be true based on how it felt, which I had learned to tap into through all my deconditioning and practice.

I trusted it and could move forward with faith and belief.

Not only did that lead to a much larger income, but paved the way to so much more that I had no idea was possible for me but at some level wanted. Like…

A lit-up sex life, an epic love, stepping into my authority, claiming my beauty, and last but not least…

A life lived with PURPOSE.

More on that next week.

Until then, a really powerful couple of questions to ask yourself are: What do you really want? And what’s getting in your way?

Love and business–it isn’t greedy to want both

By Amira Alvarez I was just thinking about the flow of my day. I’m pretty darn grateful for how smooth and spacious things are of late.  Coffee in bed with my ember mug. (Do you have one??? They are AMAZING. I have 3. One for me, one for my man, and one because…

I was just thinking about the flow of my day. I’m pretty darn grateful for how smooth and spacious things are of late.

Coffee in bed with my ember mug. (Do you have one??? They are AMAZING. I have 3. One for me, one for my man, and one because I had to have it rose gold. So yes, that’s two for me. )

A short meeting with two brilliant women to discuss our upcoming rebrand. (So excited.)

An impromptu Ops call with Ariana aka “the rockstar glue that holds it all together” for us behind the scenes.

A call with my honey in the middle of day to discuss life, love, and the sexy topic of currency insurance. (Turns out you need this when you’re taking 10 women to Paris and Venice in the Fall of 2024, for an epic 7 day experience.*)

Plus a slice of GF chocolate cake while sitting outside to write this newsletter. (‘Cause I’m done with dieting. More on that in another post.)

But there can always be more spaciousness. More ease. More flow. More good.

This isn’t about not being appreciative or grateful.

This isn’t about being greedy.

This is how desire works. It’s always calling us into more of what’s required to unlock the next chapter of our lives.

For me, right now, this is about a real desire to spend more time with my man. Not just in the evenings but in the middle of the day, for long lunches, for epic trips.

I know in my core that this will not only be good for me and our relationship, but also for the business. Yet…

My business is so NOT set up for this right now. #Truth

I thought I had gotten out of the way and set it up to run without me. I go out of town and it runs smoothly. Love that and am totally grateful for that.

But when I’m back… I’m still too much of the bottleneck, with all the decisions running through me. Do you relate?

I’ve known this for awhile, but I didn’t have leverage over myself to change. I didn’t have something I wanted MORE than being needed in my business.

Now I do.

And the result of this bigger desire calling me forward?

A clear new vision for the business. <= See THIS needed to change so I could accommodate the desire of how I want to live and breathe with my man.

This is what I mean by ‘Desire is Causative’.

If you want what you want badly enough you will grow. You will make the changes that are required. But not before then.

I’ve been toying with a new business model for months, even years yet I didn’t have the true motivation to make that happen. Now I do.

I learned this a long time ago when I was first starting out on my journey. This is why DESIRE is the first step in The Manifestation Matrix. But it has to be a TRUE desire.

I’ve lived this process again and again. (It’s so much FUN!) Each time a true desire calls me forward into more, it moves me beyond the status quo of a good life and a good business. So if you’re asking ‘Is this all there is?” the answer is yes. Emphatically yes.

In my next post, I’ll share more about true desires and how I tapped into my true desire for an epic love.

Unleashing the Power of the Open-Heart Selling Technique

It may seem, at least on the surface, that you need to keep an emotional distance when having a sales conversation with a prospective client.

I get it… you probably have ideas about what’s appropriate and what’s not appropriate to say, the correct professional distance and attitude, and how deep you can really go with someone you’ve just met.

But more often than not, keeping an emotional distance is about NOT wanting to share the truth of who you are, because god forbid they say no. That would be a rejection of YOU.

But have you ever heard the expression “people do business with people they know, like, and trust”?

It’s 100% true.

If you keep your personality and true self buttoned up and tucked away out of sight, you might get to protect your ego if they say no but no one gets to truly know you.

And if they don’t know you, they can’t like you much less trust you.

Not only does this make selling high-ticket services really challenging, but it makes sales feel transactional. (Most of us hate that and want to avoid being that kind of salesperson. And as the Founder/Owner/CEO/Principal, you need to be the best salesperson on your Team so this means learning how to be connected not defended on a sales call.)

To work this differently, you must share the truth of who you are.

I call this selling with an open-heart.

And no, it doesn’t mean leaving your heart on your sleeve and running your mouth about all your problems. (Please avoid this.)

What it does mean is opening your heart and relating person-to-person, human-to-human…

It means asking good questions, deep questions, and staying OPEN to the answer.

Then listening without judgment. Without interrupting. Without running away from their pain.

See… the only reason people buy is that they have a problem that they think you can solve. That problem is causing them pain.

If you stay on the surface and go transactional…

If you run away from the deeper questions…

If you avoid their pain (or your own discomfort in having a truly honest conversation)…

You’ll never get to their true problem which is what they’ll pay anything to solve.

Instead, when you are able to clear your own energy and show up in conversation without feeling like you have to hide a part of you…

When you can truly own your authority and who you are…

You can hold space for whatever comes up. You don’t have to be afraid of their problems… or the emotions connected to these problems.

Whether you’re selling accounting services to a CFO, legal services to a couple going through a divorce, or consulting services to a foundation, opening up and listening will reveal what they’d pay anything to solve.

Even if you’re selling your accounting services to the CFO of that tech company…

Even if you’re selling your legal services to a couple going through a divorce…

Even if you’re selling your consulting services to that foundation…

If you never open up and listen, you’ll never know what they would pay anything to solve.

But when you open up and stop being afraid of their pain or of being rejected, they will tell you.

Once you know this, then the next step is to honestly assess if your service solves their problem. Yes? Then, and only then, you can walk them through the tactical aspects of working with you.

When you open up and put more heart into your sales approach, the tactical side becomes easier, it eliminates discomfort, and it multiplies your success.

Creating this balance between the inner and the outer game of business is what I help female entrepreneurs within the Spirit of Wealth program.

Fear has a sneaky way of stopping you. Sometimes it’s obvious and looks like plain old fear. You know the kind… The pit in your stomach. The sweaty hands. The shaking voice.

But sometimes it shows up casually sabotaging your progress in subtle ways.

For me that often looked like that voice in my head…

This is too much to do now.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I’ll be completely splayed out.
“I just have to do this first.”
“I need to take care of my new client first.”
“I need to onboard my team members first.”

Basically, some version of “I can’t do this” cleverly wrapped up in a reasonable rationale.

Don’t these thoughts seem totally normal? Even reasonable?

But really? They are your subconscious program running the show and keeping you from doing the SCARY thing that you consciously want to do but unconsciously want to avoid.

Yep, it’s an avoidance technique, plain and simple. And it happens at every level, though it may look slightly different once you get past the 7-figure mark.

It’s productive procrastination. (Side note: Have you listened to the podcast I did on productive procrastination? It’s a fan favorite, so many women nodding their heads to this!)

We’re all super good at it. Myself included.

But in order to get different results, like crossing the 7-figure mark… Or taking your revenue beyond that figure… Or getting your dream house within the year… Or going on a long vacation and leaving your business completely in the hands of your team…

You must move past this pattern that’s running the show and reprogram your subconscious.

Everything you want is on the other side of your automatic programmed responses. You’ve got to do life and do business differently.

This is exactly what we teach in our Spirit of Wealth Mastermind and Masterclass. We go deep – especially at our in-person retreats.

Growth can be exciting, but sometimes it’s also really stressful. So how do you deal with the stress when it arises? That was a recent question in one of our Facebook groups:

“I’ve been going through so much growth and upleveling that I’m even though I’m excited, I’m also stressed and exhausted. How do I deal with all of this?”

It’s actually quite simple… LOVE WHO YOU ARE, as you are now. Warts and all.

First off, have zero judgment. Zero shame. You’re just tired. You’ve pushed past your limits and you’re tired. All is good. No shame in that. It happens to all of us.

Acceptance is key.

Accept yourself, just as you are.
Love yourself, just as you are.

And most importantly, recalibrate.

Get sleep. Get rest. We all need it, and it’s non-negotiable. On an average, try to get 8 – 9 hours a night. If I slip below this one day, I’m good. But more than that and I start getting irritated, short, frayed, angry, etc.

Which are all repelling states to growing our business. They make us hugely unproductive and drop our energy into states that aren’t conducive to createing what we want.

Create space and time, and ask yourself: What is it that I need right now?

A nap? A bath? A good movie? Yoga? Staring at the ceiling? Time alone?

You have to get in the habit and routine of giving yourself what you need, because each time you up level SIGNIFICANTLY you will need to recalibrate. Again and again. It’s an essential and unavoidable part of growth and making your quantum leap.

The sooner you recognize this need and make space for it, the better.

Remember… nothing’s broken. All is good. ;-)

When you’re running your own business, sometimes it can feel like there’s a giant boulder standing in your way. It often happens when you’ve been moving forward, feeling awesome, getting a ton done, and then WHAMMO… GIANT BOULDER. (Where did that come from???)

And this boulder (aka, block, obstacle, issue) doesn’t seem to want to budge.

You keep pushing and pushing but NOPE, that boulder isn’t going anywhere.

You know you’ve hit a boulder when work feels like a grind, your body starts complaining loudly, and all inspiration has vanished completely.

This happened to me one recent afternoon when my boulder came in the form of a MIGRAINE. I don’t get them often, usually once a month related to a change in my hormones. (In truth, even this is way too often, right?)

At some point in the afternoon, I realized that ALL MY FLOW had stopped. I wasn’t getting anywhere and I was grinding it out (I HATE GRINDING IT OUT).

So what did I do?

I stopped, just like that. (You can do this too. ;-)

Because continuing to grind it out is NOT productive, NOT efficient, and NOT good for either me or my clients.

I wrapped the last thing up and took a nap. But when I woke up, my headache was still there. No miracle.

I could feel myself getting annoyed and going down the rabbit hole of…“Why is this happening? I have so much to do, I just want to GO…. this means everything is going to hell in a handbasket, all my projects are going to fail, I’m really screwed.”

Whoa nelly – THIS IS NOT GREAT LINE OF THOUGHT. And yet, that’s where we tend to automatically go when things aren’t going how we want them to.

I stopped that nonsense the second I noticed it. (If you don’t have a copy of “Stop Your Spinout” my quickie guide to turning around this kind of thinking, grab it here. It’s short, powerful, and really helps in these situations.)

I TLC’d myself for the rest of the evening and went to bed.

This is the Law of Non-Resistance at play. I didn’t keep pushing against that boulder. I took the hint and I stopped resisting what was happening.

If you’ve got a boulder in front of you, whatever it looks like, know that…

1) Your inspiration will come back. It always does.

2) Your business won’t collapse. Things really can wait.

3) Resting is not avoidance unless it is. I was back at it again the next day. You’ll know the difference.

The Law of Non-Resistance is one of the most powerful laws.

The way to use it?

Ask yourself… what are you resisting?
